Is it broken?

IMG_1054.jpg

After jumping off the stage at the end of his set… Marcel, Lead vocals and guitar of band called Die Hexe , announced to the audience that he thought he broke his ankle.

For the rest of the show, he was be asked probably around 100 times.. if it was broken..

no word yet from the doctor whether or not it is actually broken.. but pretty punk rock regardless of the outcome.

Galt.

Had a few hours to kill in Galt Ontario.

Walked around with a 40mm 2.8 Pancake attached to a Canon 60D

Galt has, for a while now, been the subject of alot of cameras. A few horror films have been shot there. And it seems everyone and their 4 year old wants to instagram the place. Painters and poets also seem to flock there. I guess I don’t blame them. It is a cool glimpse into the “once was, now isn’t” book.

The cloud texture made a cool backdrop for some silhouetting in post.

so, here are some eerie shots of old Galt Ontario

I found my self in the photography pit fro a recent local August Burns Red concert. It’s a funny story how I got int here to begin with. But once in there, I realized I was totally unprepared to take concert photo’s. I was shooting a Vlog that day for another project.

There were a few moments when the lights were right for my Kit lens on my canon 60D to handle the surroundings.

I wasn’t actually trying to take this picture, it was more of “hey I see my friend in the crowd lets take a picture of him” at the exact moment a very popular song started up by the band , the crowd roared and I snapped a picture with loads of emotion.  And my friend Matt smiling center frame.

There were only like 3 other pictures that turned out from the 100 that I took.

Such is life.

Thanks for reading.

Never Quick, Nor Easy.

Easy Divorce.

This photo would fit well into a project aimed around the ideas of “commitment” or a series on “North American Living”. ironically of course.

This was a sign outside what seemed to be a small, walk in, walk out law office in the lower east side of Manhattan.

Walking around with my Nikon AF600 (a small point a shoot 35mm camera) while waiting to play a concert at a small venue, I spotted the sign. Having no idea how to photograph it though. I walked up and took a picture of it for my own personal memory, knowing the composition would hold no value. Later, however, after developing the roll, I noticed that I accidentally captured a bus with a American Flag on the side. This, I think, adds some sort of value to the image. Leading one to impose an idea of a downfall in North American culture as to the idea that divorce as become a way of life and a cultural norm. I think that it speaks to the area of commitment and instant gratification all at the same time.

I think it’s a neat picture.

Shot on some expired Blacks 200iso film that I found at a thrift shop. the best thing about this film is that it has the processing included. Free developing. Go team!

anyways, thanks for reading.

Walking a Dog in NYC.

NYC Pug

I feel like owning a dog in NYC would suck. It would have to live in your small over priced apartment. It would bark and make your neighbors mad. Dog hair. Dog smell. Dog poop. You would have to walk it down narrow busy streets full of tourists and pissed of cab drivers. Then when it decides to take a crap on the side walk, you have to grab the little bag a pick up its crap while 300 people eating pizza and wearing “I heart new york” t shirts watch and shame you as if dogs aren’t supposed to poop.

And then not to mention some long haired Canadian guy will decide to take a picture of your dog as your’e walking it down the side walk in hopes that it will do it’s business so you can go back to your apartment, throw on Netflix and stress about how you’re going to make your next rent payment.

Life yahknow?

anyways.

I’m less afraid to point my camera at animals than I am to point it at people. This dog still didn’t seem to impressed.

This is on some small numeric street in west Manhattan last week.

After dropping this camera down a mountain, I’ve started wrestling with light leaks. Some may say that Light leaks are creative and artsy, but not when you are trying to take a non-lightleaked photo..Duhh.

This was one of the few on the roll that was not affected. Haven’t really figured out why yet.

Thank you so much for following, and reading my blog.

Don’t worry i will get back to more photo adventures soon. Here is a artsy pic from a Highs Set last night. I’ve been lucky to be able to go on the road with them for a few days and take pics.
