Is it broken?

IMG_1054.jpg

After jumping off the stage at the end of his set… Marcel, Lead vocals and guitar of band called Die Hexe , announced to the audience that he thought he broke his ankle.

For the rest of the show, he was be asked probably around 100 times.. if it was broken..

no word yet from the doctor whether or not it is actually broken.. but pretty punk rock regardless of the outcome.

Albion Falls

Wasn’t really much for waterfalls. I mean, I get that they are awesome, but I just never felt a desire to go and photograph them. The other day I was feeling kinda down, so I asked Sarah if she wanted to go on a photography adventure. She said “yes” and that made me super happy.

luckily there is a cool waterfall liek 3 mins from her house. So we went there. Albion falls, in Hamilton Ontario.

My goal was to shoot a timelapse. As I’ve already shot a long exposure here before and it came out purple thanks to my 3 dollar ND filters.

It almost seems to sad to emit any light at all. But every night, when it’s to dark to see, it shines the brightest.

And so can you.

Static Prevails

June 30th it rained.

Had my camera and a small tripod, while stopping at my dads house. Glanced and saw some lightning in the distance. Originally, I wanted to take some slow shutter/long exposures of the fireflies that were lazily drifting above the grass. But that idea quickly warped into some sort of lighting shot before the rain hit.

With no bug spray, I decided to embark on the patient, trial and error task that is capturing lighting.

Placing the camera almost on the ground, I originally composed a shot with our front mailbox, and a wind turbine in the back ground, in hopes that the lighting would strike in frame to create a very cool image.

After, missing a handful of lighting strikes with that composition, I decided to switch it up and go for the lighting, as the storm was moving east quite quickly.

While many attempts were made, this was the closest I came to anything spectacular.

Water vs Gravity. (day 2)

022_20

I live in the Waterfall capital of the world. So the other day I was admiring one of them along with 45 other tourists. I had my SLR with me, shooting some very cheap 200 sped film. – I think I’m terrible at taking pictures of nature, but on this day I was really keen to take some. – Standing at this waterfall I saw this kid playing at the bottom. With the kid in the picture it makes the waterfall look twice as big or it makes the kid look twice as small. – Regardless I waited for the kid to be in some form of position. I like this cause he is looking down, and I feel like the water fall is looking down on him… Idono.. make your own metaphor.

I got this developed at Wal-Mart, Something I recommend you never do. – I think their chemicals at this particular store were way past expired. Idono, but I usually get processing done at another place where the guy actually cares about his images. Anyways, maybe it was just my cheap film or a collection of both.

Walking On Sunshine.

Image

I was at a wedding a few days ago, and like most weddings they had a dance. That old song, “Walking On Sunshine” came on. you know the one with the “Wooh ohh” part after they say the words “I’m walking on sunshine”? Yeah that one.

So while up dancing my legs off, and working up a fat kid sweat, I started thinking what it would actually be like to walk on sunshine and if that is actually possible. I’m not talking about walking on the sun… No, I’m talking about walking on light. The shine, from the sun. Sunshine.

Quickly did I stop thinking about this just as a beautiful girl moved and danced in front of me (my gf) :).

I took this photo a few days ago. The Location is the shore of Lake Erie along Rondeau Ontario. It’s shot with a Yashica FX-D Quartz 35mm SLR, with a 50mm lens. – I don’t know the exact settings. But I know it wasn’t a full closed aperture maybe 11 or 8, but I know it was 1/250 shutter speed.

If you haven’t noticed by now, the photo is extremely over exposed due to the light from the sun reflecting down on to the clear white sand and into all directions. A clear, clear sky made the sunlight fall down like a water fall that afternoon, and leaving me with a slight sunburn….

The Silhouette of the girl is walking on the sunshine.

The sunshine glaring down on the sand. The sunshine burning my face. The sunshine beaming through the lens and over exposing itself onto my 400iso film. The sunshine that brings life. The sunshine that brings darkness. The sun, shining, allowing us to live, allowing us to be.

To Speak Of Envy, To Dream Of Daylight.

For the mountains glare at me again.

Holding true to what I am.

A drifter built by time and age.

The seas suffocate.

For tides and tides and time again I’ll wander till the day begins.

For time and time and tides again I’ll sink until my lungs cave in.
